i think he has bags and bags of potential, but needs a good trainer...he also needs a boxing brain which he hasn't shown so far...but he does look like he could be very good with the right guidance...i think he could have beat groves had he been a bit more assertive

Warren proved unable to control DeGales image and harness his Olympic win into making him another Amir Khan. PR is an important part of any job. Quite simply after 2/3 fights it was clear DeGale should have gone for some media training.

With the right promotion and managment there is no reason why James DeGale cannot become an elite fighter. He is European champion and top 15 in the world. Froch did not have a paticularly great image prior to his world title days.

Good article.

To be pedantic, McDonnell, not McDonald (although I wish I could forget his name).

Sadly I fear that JDG may have already missed the boat due to his recent comparative inactivity. His public appearances lead me to believe that he's not the sharpest knife in the box and so could really do with a good corner and team around him to help him better himself both as an athlete and as a human being.

I think Ronald McDonald would do a better job than Jim McDonnell.
