Kilburn's Ashley 'Treasure' Theophane is hoping to land a place on Frank Warren's March show at Wembley Arena after confirming his split with Hatton Promotions.

Theophane's departure from the Hatton camp had been inevitable since November, when the former British light-welterweight champion travelled to Manchester for a fight that never took place.

Now the 32-year-old wants to return to the scene of a memorable triumph almost two years ago, when he wrested the British title from Lenny Daws before successfully defending it at the same venue against Jason Cook.

Two of Theophane's former sparring partners, WBO world lightweight champion Ricky Burns, and Liam Walsh are already booked to appear on the March 16 'Rule Britannia' bill, which also features Hammersmith's George Groves.

"I'm in talks with Frank Warren about his Wembley bill," Theophane told the Times. "I'd love to be on that show because I haven't fought at Wembley Arena for a while.

"It's local for me, it's a nice venue to box and it's where I had two of my favourite fights in my career, so it'd be really good to get on what looks like a great show.

"I know Frank was interested in signing me just before the Hatton deal and maybe he might still be interested. Hopefully I'll get the chance to show him what I can do.

"Frank works closely with the WBO and, if I fight at Wembley, it could be for a WBO international or European belt. I'd like to collect as many titles as possible."

Theophane, who learned his trade just down the road from Wembley at All Stars ABC, Paddington, picked up another belt just after Christmas when he stopped Chaurembo Palasa in Luxembourg to win the vacant GBC welterweight strap.

But the north-west Londoner insists he is happy "to box anywhere between 140lb and 150lb", keeping all options open as he surveys his prospects for the coming year.

"It really just depends on the fight," Theophane added. "There are only a few people I want to box at light-welterweight but if it's a good fight I'd be interested.

"I signed with Hatton 18 months ago to fight the kind of fighters I'd been up against before, like Danny Garcia, Delvin Rodriguez and DeMarcus Corley - but nothing much happened.

"That's why I went over to Luxembourg, to make sure I ended the year on a high because I didn't want to have Manchester being the last thing I did in 2012.

"I've left Hatton Promotions but I wish Ricky all the best for the future. These things happen in boxing and you just have to move on - it's a new year and time for a clean start."

Theophane has potential fights lined up in Germany and Panama during the first half of the year and is also hoping to join legendary five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather at a training camp in April.

Didn't even know he was still with Hatton tbh.
I'm not surprised, I don't think he's ever fought on a Hatton show.

He was meant to fight on the Senchenko undercard, but go pushed back until after the main event and then pulled at about 11:30pm.

Edit: Pretty sure he still got paid though.

Good move. He has gone stale over the last few years (ever since the Lenny Daws win which was rather good). He has been left to rot by Hatton Promotions, despite being a good fighter.

I remember speaking to him when he joined Hatton and he was confident Ricky and Paxon would push him onto world level, but he hasn't had a fight for them. Poor form in my opinion

He was paid. After a boxer weighs in, they are due a full payment, regardless of whether a fight takes place.

He was pulled off the bill because the MEN has a curfew I think

They have moved the Dawson-Conquest fight off the bill now so would be good if they could slot Theophane on in a decent fight
That's on the Billy Joe vs Hall card

I thought theophane said he'd been pulled off because they deemed it inappropriate to carry on the event after hattons defeat?
Might of completely made that up though haha

He should try and work to another British title shot to get the belt outright at some point, then he can definitely hang at world level, not impossible for him, he "ruined" Garcia
