After defeat last Friday to Martin Gethin for the vacant British lightweight title, Ben Murphy has announced his retirement from boxing.

Murphy appeared in two prizefighter series, losing close decisions in both quarter finals, and twice challenged for the British title - pushing Ashley Theophane 11 hard rounds 13 months ago.
