So the fight between him and Arreola this weekend ended up in a bit of an upset.

We had been waiting for a year for it, and all that year most of us thought Arreola would run him over fairly easily, but instead he puts on a good performance and is now the #1 contender for Vitali Klitschko.

So what do we think about Stiverne now?

I am not sure what to take from this weekends fight, I have never really rated Arreola, and to me this just confirmed that he's a very limited fighter, but I don't know how to rate Stiverne either. He did look impressive, but would it be enough to handle old man vitali?

Stiverne was a pretty good amateur. I'm pretty sure he knocked out Price and beat Helenuis too. Having said that, I did expect Arreola to beat him. I havent seen the fight yet, but it seems like he dominated Chris, which is a surprise

Yeah it was a dominant win.

Chris edged the first two rounds, but in round 3 Stiverne poleaxed him with a right hand that blew Arreolas nose up and dropped him bad.

The rest of the fight was just Arreola slowly shuffling forward, and Stiverne just picking him off.

Stiverne almost had him finished, the last 30 seconds of the 12th Arrola looked about ready to quit, as Stiverne was just teeing off with brutal bodyshots

Anyone got a link for the fight?

if I remember right he was a good amateur but has just under performed as a pro, he's looked shite from what I've seen of him. His win this weekend was big though, off that back of that he's deserving of a title shot

Anyone got any recent news of Vitali? gotta be retiring surely

Edit: My post is near an exact replica of Vanos, this was not done on purpose I can assure you

Post fight vids are cool, just not illegal streams to otherwise PPV viewing at the time of the fight (I guess)

I remember watching Stiverne against Austin and thinking he was pretty poor. He was much better in this but Arreola is so limited. Stiverne could land a big shot whenever he wanted. I still thought it was a bit closer than others seem to. I still had it close-ish after 9 or 10 rounds. When Arreola put pressure on he had success, he just couldn't sustain it.
