In general? From any time period?

I made this thread earlier on but, unfortunately, it was deleted in the server change. Anyway, Juan Manuel Marquez is one of the most exquisite combination punchers still boxing today. The way he strings together powerful, quick combinations whilst keeping it all tidy and accurate is astounding. Really in a class of his own at the elite level, very few fighters today can match him in this particular department.

Everything seems to flow perfectly. He uses the left uppercut about as well as any boxer I've seen, especially against southpaws, namely, Manny Pacquiao.

A sort of left-field mention was Carl Froch. He may be a little bit awkward at times, but he has underrated hand speed and when his combo's begin to flow he rains down heavy blows on his target.

Who else, in your opinion, throws some mean fuckin' combo's? :bbb

I'm sorry but Carl Froch is as slow as a camel in quick sand.

To answer the question, Meldrick Taylor is up there

Whenever someone asks this question, my first answer is always Joe Louis. The best combo puncher in history in my opinion

Marquez has crazy fucking combos
Tyson

Left field choices:

Holyfield gets underrated
Oscar De La Hoya
Shane Mosley
McCallum's head and body combos were amazing

He's not stand-out fast but he's not as ponderous and slow as some seem to think. His combinations are quite good, also. The way he positions his left hand whilst throwing a jab is intelligent.

Froch is not a bad shout at all. I like the way he throws the jab, follows it up with the right and then adds in a final straight left-cum-hook. That third shot gets some real success with people not expecting it. He doesn't have a particularly good conventional 1-2 but that sequence is really good to watch.

Mares is an obvious stand out but he still doesn't come close to a prime Rafa Marquez & Israel Vasquez. Golovkin is smart in putting his punches together too

Holyfield is a very good shout. There wasn't a punch in the book which he couldn't throw to great effect.

Or elbows for that matter.

That's what I like about his style, he's not fast but is still pretty good at throwing combinations.

Froch is awkward as fuck and has good combos. The stuff he did to Bute was exactly how to fight a Southpaw with the right left right combos. And the combos he was putting on Abraham was ace  Awkward as hell boxing lesson

Bute had no answer to 'em. Carl would sometimes fall off balance but still slot in a good punch whilst off balance. He's one of the best definitions of "awkward + effective" in the game today.

Very true, I don't know but there is something about the way he throws his punches. Looks like he has to throw his whole body into it or something

That left hook over Bute's low right jab had Bute well fucked by late into the 2nd. :-(

Vasyl Lomachenko is brilliant. All-time Bob Foster threw some terribly powerful combinations. The string of punches that stopped Tiger. :scaredas:
