As a kid we didn't have Sky, so growing up in the late 90s/early 00s there wasn't a massive amount of boxing on terrestrial TV. The first fight I remember staying up late to watch was the Lewis loss to Rahman on the BBC.

I definitely remember watching a replay of Lewis-Tyson on the BBC. I believe that I watched replays of Lewis' win over Rahman and the match with Vitali too - am I imagining this?

I was thinking this the other day. I know Froch-Groves II was massive in getting casual support, but Groves has never been world champion, so it wasn't a "world" event. The biggest fights for me have been Tyson-Lewis and Hatton-Mayweather. I don't think Mayweather-Pac will be as big in this country, as no British interest, but lots of people will have seen both boxers through the Hatton fights. With the internet nowadays I guess it is less important for a free to air replay after the event.

I remember getting passed Hamed homemade VHS tapes long after the event!

You're right they'd have the replays of big fights on a Sunday night at 11-12 in the night.

Rahman I was live. Remember staying up for it even though it was in South Africa and can remember believing Rahman would win. Lewis body language throughout was bad and as he came off the ropes it was almost in slow mo for me.

Vitali was on Sky Box Office iirc. He came in at short notice for the Canadian fella Johnson?. I can remember my dad saying this will be harder then him as we saw Vitali decimate a few guys inc Hide prior.

People on here either too young or cant remember all the Cartels output on delayed BBC coverage. One of my earliest boxing memories is watching the Ragamuffin capturing Donald Currys title on delayed showing on Grandstand
