What a mess.

Add to that the nonsense with Chisora not having a license or opponent yet and Cleverly apparently being too ill to defend his poxy title against yet another undeserving "mandatory" challenger.

Nice work @Wallet

I still believe that Frank thought he had signed and then Vasquez was asking for more money. He may have known it was in doubt but tried to save the show thought he'd be able to but has failed.
Maybe Vasquez asked for a percentage of his agreed purse up front and I wouldn't have blamed him with all the stories about Franks finances swirling about.

Shame for Ricky as I know he'd have been well up for this.

As reported early this morning, an aggressive stomach infection suffered by the IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez, has forced him to withdrew from the scheduled fight with WBO champion Ricky Burns. The fight was postponed from March 16th to April 20th, at Wembley Arena in London, England.

Vazquez says he came to Tijuana on February 17th to sign the contract for the fight. He was going through the final hurdle of his camp when he got sick from eating bad seafood and stayed away from training camp for a week. Vazquez is taking some very strong medications to treat the problem.

Burns' promoter Frank Warren says the fight will be rescheduled to April 20th at the same venue.

¨I'm sorry about this situation. We were on top of our preparation. It was so intense. My body was in great shape, strong and fast, from our weeks of total dedication to the camp, but the infection I suffered in my stomach was very strong. I had to lay in bed for a week, but it's good that my promoter has told me the fight will be rescheduled," Vazquez said.

It's a strange coincidence that Vazquez gets ill shortly after rumours are strongly denied that the fight isn't even signed. I also find it a little strange how Cleverly also gets too ill to fight on the card, George Groves leaves for undisclosed reasons and Chisora still doesn't have a license.

Chisora's hearing isn't until March 12th.

Frank and his cheif drone Buncey have been banging on about posting the contracts online today and and all week. Once posted, its just emails about contracts and no actual contract.

Even if everything Frank & Vasquez team is saying is true...why did Frank announce the fight Jan 20th when the contract was only signed Feb 17th?

Glen Johnson after the Groves fight was announced:

"Well I don't know if I'm going to face him in December. I know my people called me and told me that there was an interest for me to fight. I really don't know his name. They just said there was an interest for to go to England and fight somebody.

"I said yes I'm interested. I've been bored this whole time not fighting. All they said that there was interest and I said let's do it. This is the first I am hearing of it being official.

"I really don't know much more than there being just an interest. I haven't heard back from people. I don't have a signed contract or anything."

"If they're willing to offer me something good, then I am willing to step up and bring a great fight."
