It's like Burns vs Laryea all over again.

Lopez upsets Ortiz, who was nailed on to get the call.... and gets the fight himself.

Realistically he's gonna get mullered, but he's earnt a payday of some sorts. Shame it isn't against someone his own size.

The way Canelo has been given a belt and been allowed to defend against such tripe is scandalous.

He won the belt by fighting the European WELTERWEIGHT champion - Matthew Hatton. First of all, how can that ever be sanctioned for a world title?!?

Then he takes on his mando (Rhodes), gets the fight at home, with his own sized ring, massive home advantage, altitude etc.

Then is allowed to defend against Alfonso Gomez (shocking), Cintron (hadn't beaten anyone of note for over 2 years) and Mosley (hadn't won for over 3 years!!!).

His last mandatory (I think) was Rhodes (over a year ago) and he is allowed to avoid his mandatory, the dangerous Lara to fight a fringe world LWW with one big win! Not to mention making two potentially dangerous opponents (Vanes and Lara) fight each other in a final eliminator!!!

Fuck the WBC!!!

@Lilo Worse thing is Canelo doesn't even look that good. My colleague is convinced he's a future great, we don't always disagree but it's getting heated
I do think he could become #1 in the division at some point, maybe not right now but at some point in the future. Its more the way that the WBC, who are meant to be impartial BTW are manipulating every possible advantage his way in order to become a 'great'.

For me though, you are not given 'greatness' you have to earn it; so if he carries on he'll never be great despite what your colleague thinks :bart

And for people who say well he's only 21/22, so fucking what he's meant to be a world champion isn't he?!? People slag Fury for fighting the best but he is not masquerading as a world champion, he is only 24 (?) and is doing it the right way.

Thats annoying I was really hoping Josesito would get a fight closer to his own weight. Half of the brilliance of his victory is the fact he was a 140 fighter beating a big 147 fighter. Alvarez is too far. The lad only weighed in at 143 for Ortiz Alvarez will probably be 20 pounds heavier than him come fight night :patsch
