British PublicHoly moly. What muppet is actally going to watch this?
There is a clause in the contract according to Benns Coach Tony Simms. The financial penalty only applies to the first 1.5 lbs. If Eubanks weighs more the 158.5lbs, the fight will be cancelled same applies I presume for the next day re-hydration weigh in.I don't understand why Eubank even took this fight. Beating Benn means nothing, and the weight-draining thing is just shyte piled on top of a nothing sandwich.
It's not a title fight, so Eubank should just miss the weight on purpose, and pay whatever the penalty is. What are they gonna' do, cancel the fight?
Woke this morning to see Eubank sr trending. Having failed to get the fight cancelled , he has now called on fans to boycott his sons fight with Conor Benn saying the catch weight is dangerous his son might suffer serious and fatal injuries.
Yep...This fight would have been huge if it was on Sky Sports here in the U.K. they would have hyped things to the max. It would have been in the news cycle non stop. You could be forgiven for not knowing this fight is even on.
Non of the MSM are reporting this story. Don’t know the truth.Read Chris Eubank Sr has been admitted into the Langford Mental Health Hospital, East Sussex.
Assuming it is true, I sure hope he is okay.
Explains the angry outbursts by Conor Benn in most of his interviews clearly roid rage. Apparently Eubank jr stills wants to go ahead cus he does not want to miss out on the biggest paycheck of his career.Awful fight. And to add even more negativity, I just read a headline stating that Benn has failed a drugs test on his A sample but that the fight will still go ahead as they won't check a 'B' until after the fight. Not sure how much if any of that is true but doesn't sound great for an already crappy promotion.
Not sure how well it does the Face Off video from the original press conference has 1.3 million views on YouTube.Sad stuff. I'm not always a reliable barometer, but I'd be astonished if this sells much on PPV. I'll just look up the result late at night and I usually buy pretty much everything!
Conor Benn v Chris Eubank Jr fight 'prohibited' by British Boxing Board of Control
EH is really having a good week isn't he.....
Its confirmed by Kalle Sauerland that this has been known about since the last week of August.Seems like this will be all decided at a legal level. Sounds like this will be all done to technicalities. EH is saying exactly what I would expect, he has millions on the line so he isn't going to give up especially if Benn isn't technically suspended or has failed a UKAD test.
If you are right and MR/EH knew for a while seems odd to risk this much while not understanding what BBBoC's reaction will be.
I'm guessing it will be decided one way or the other in the next 24 hrs as it will cost MR even more if they let this go any closer to the fight night and then have to cancel last minute.
I am 49 and like you I won’t be paying for it either.I'm 48 and followed both the dads when I was younger, so I'm prime nostalgia territory - and Connor Benn does nothing for me and this fight even less. With Jr then showing about 1% of the ambition of his father and wasting his best years on posturing and mucking about I have gone off him, too. So I'm not sure that the nostalgia vote will save Hearn on this one.
Seen the latest update - hope that the Board sticks to its guns and prevents the fight. A dangerous precedent is set if it now goes ahead despite their statement.
Whats even worse then Hearn is the behaviour of Kalle Sauerland. He seems to have concocted a narrative with matchroom. That Eubank jr and Benn had spoken directly to each other Eubank was happy and after also seeking medical and legal advice both fighters were happy to proceed. When Hearn tried to pull this stunt after Whyte tested positive prior to the Rivas fight I don't think they even had the courtesy to notify Rivas of Whyte's positive test. No doubt Hearn had the same plan here, don't tell Eubank, don't tell anyone, but the media found out and the story got out.
I have heard Hearn get on his soap box arguing the point of having testing if the punishment doesn't match the crime. Yet the hypocrite has now at least twice tried to sweep positive tests under the rug.
