Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has no intention of waiting any longer. He wants to make a junior welterweight showdown between WBA/WBC champion Danny Garcia (26-0, 16KOs) and mandatory challenger Lucas Matthysse (34-2, 32KOs) on September 7th.

"We are not marinators. I am not into marinating stuff. That's another company, that's not us. I can tell you that when you have the best fight the best - there are no losers. So if Garcia loses to Matthysse or Matthysse loses to Garcia - you know it's going to be a hell of a fight, because Lucas Matthysse...who can beat him? But Danny Garcia is one of the most underrated champions that we have [in boxing]. People doubt him in every fight and in every fight he delivers big. Never count Danny Garcia out," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com.

Schaefer says the probability of the fight coming off is very high.

"I would bet on it. If you asked me for my percentage, I would say 90-10 [that it happens]," Schaefer said.

Garcia has good power in his shots but he's more of an accumulation type with top timing and accuracy, so the amassment of his punches will have a faster effect. Danny will throw with you and Matthysse is one of those naturally gifted bangers you really don't want to exchange too often with. That's why I can't look past Lucas.

Couldn't agree more, he's so basic Garcia can see him getting outboxed by most top guys who can take his shots. Even a shot Morales gave him all he could handle and Ashley Theophane should of got the nod against him

I tend to dislike him becasue when he's ringside and the camera pans to him, you can guarantee he'll be dressed like a twatfarmer and is about to make the "1" gesture with his finger. What the fuck is that about? Really grips my shit!
However, I try not to let my superficial fury cloud my judgement of him as a fighter. I would say that he doesn't seem great for a champion, but if there's no-one better in the division, it's not his fault.
I like watching Matthysse and would definitely root for him in this one.:ibutt
