Former champion vs former champion, the Mexican Monster takes on Sweet Hands on Showtime PPV in a fight that's been in the making for years now. Finally they'll get it on for the right to challenge the WBC champion, the dislike is genuine here, Benavidez says this won't go past 6.

It's fight week, here are the start of week odds for this one. The American has no chance according to the bookmaker's who are currently offering;

Benavidez 2/5
Plant 9/4
Draw 12/1

You'll more than double your money with a winning bet on Plant but the Mexican Monster is at 9/2 to get this over with in the first half, if you think there's no risk of him losing then 2/5 isn't too bad I don't think

A few hours to go before the first bell, both fighters came in on weight yesterday, in fact Plant outweighed Benavidez, something I wasn't expecting. The head to head ended with the fighters being pulled apart after Plant put his hands on Benavidez in a clear bid to rile him and of course it worked a treat.

Jermall Charlo is picking Plant, I'm picking the other way with most others, Benavidez inside the distance for me.

Canelo is a much better infighter than Benavidez. He's more compact, throws wicked body punches, has great head movement to avoid much of what may come back at him and Benavidez shows his body way too much between squaring up like he does and winging those head shots from all angles. I watched 3 of Benavidez's fights just this week and in every one of them he squared up against his opponent several times a round. Canelo will wreck that torso, and once the body breaks down, the head will follow.

Canelo has shown he can outfight taller Supermiddleweights. The guys only 2 losses were to Mayweather, who is slicker than snot in the ring and a true Light Heavyweight Champion in Bivol.

If that fight happens, my money will be on Alvarez.
I agree, the question then is what's the problem here? Benavidez has been the WBC no.1 contender for about 2 years and interim champion for a bit less but no fight with Canelo still. Instead he's fighting Ryder and apparently he doesn't fight Mexicans (anymore). Benavidez has been calling for the fight for years and Canelo keeps making excuses, seems as if we have more faith in him than he does himself.
