David Price has returned from his Canadian training camp and is convinced he's back on track to become world heavyweight champion.

The 6ft 8in scouse powerhouse and his trainer Franny Smith have spent three weeks in Canada working with former undisputed world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis and conditioner Courtney Shand.

Price believes he's bang on course to get revenge over Tony Thompson when they clash in a return 12 rounder at Liverpool's Echo Arena on Saturday July 6.

The veteran Washington DC southpaw stunned the boxing world when he KO'd Price in two rounds in February.

Price who is now training again in familiar surroundings at Salisbury ABC in his home city said: "I'm learning all the time from Lennox.

"Courtney is pushing me beyond what I thought I was capable of and I'm preparing for the fight of my life.

"I'm ready to win it and get right back in the mix."

Lewis will fly into Britain for the final ten days ahead of the big fight that will be screened live on BoxNation.

Price's promoter Frank Maloney added: "David's confidence is soaring and I am confident he will redeem himself."

Also on the big bill, Darren Hamilton defends his British light-welterweight title against Adil Anwar.

A second title fight will be announced later this week with further undercard news.

Tickets priced £180 (VIP including private bar), £100, £80, £50, £35 can be obtained from the. Box Office 08448000400 and www.frankmaloney.com

His chin failings go's back to his amateur days, the bloke just can't hold a shot well, what's more worrying is his lack of movement and stiffness, honestly I have seen scarecrows in fields that move better.

It's still one of the most weird knockdowns i've seen. He's took bigger punches on the chin before than that. I think a bigger problem for him (assuming it was an ear shot/balance thing) is how reacts to pressure. Skelton just chugged forward and had him looking worried and backing straight up.

I don't think his chin is the sole problem to be honest, it was more down to the insane hype surrounding him. Even after the KO loss, some journalists were referring him as the heir apparent to Wlad and Vitali, which was crazy as it was based solely on beating the likes of Harrison (who people make fun of), McDermott (who wasn't in shape at all), Skelton and Sexton.

There lies the problem in my opinion. These people were completely looking over his punch resistance (which even in the amateurs wasn't great), his static tendencies and his often lazy jab, not to mention his piss poor resume which saw him touted as the next heavyweight world champion, despite never being in with a top 4 HW domestically

I agree with all of that until the last bit... unfortunately some of the guys he has fought are in the domestic top four, surely? Or were when he fought them?

Thompson again was probably the biggest fight they could get Price. Another year fighting bums before getting back in with Thompson or someone at a similar level wouldn't add anything and just wastes a year.
The problem is though Simon, is that I saw nothing from Price to suggest he can deal with Thompson bar a big right hand, not once did Thompson look to be in any sort of real danger in the first fight, even when David was throwing leather, I thought it was an odd matchup to begin with, it was a big ask going from knocking over domestic fodder to a world class fighter who has only ever lost to Wladimir.

It Thompson stops him again, which is a real possibility, its hard to see where Price go's.
