A member of Team Paris was kind enough to give me his thoughts on the upcoming Garcia/Judah contest and his thoughts on the Vernon Paris vs Danny Garcia is sparring, while I was in Detroit. As I am sitting by waiting for the boxing fights t continue, I see a gentleman representing Team Paris, so I asked him the question of the skill of Danny Garcia,

He stated "I've seen him, he's solid, but i don't think he's the destroyer they make him out to be, he don't have no real knockout power to me. He got good timing, that's it, how many times he dropped guys and they get right up. Morales was getting up before his corner just stopped the fight." Then we spoke on the sparring session he had with Danny Garcia, "Man that's his daddy just selling the fight, he knows that's a damn lie, he apologized to Vernon for that b*******, how Vernon ain't tough, the man been stabbed up, shot up, still got a bullet in his back...and you try to make him sound like a b****. That ain't cool." I was just as shocked to hear all of this myself in the masonic temple.

I guess we already knew this really with Garcia overall being a solid fighter but not exactly a beast of a puncher or a knockout machine but the way he finished both Khan and Morales in his last two fights suggests to me that his power's definitely got to be respected now.

i think he definitely is with that left hook, maybe not with his other punches. i do think that garcia however will get beaten soon, he seems quite slow and if it wasnt for khans chin he would have been a nightmare opponent for garcia.

I see your point, but that might also have something to do with Garcia having superior boxing skills and timing to land those shots - rather than simply being a bigger puncher?
Honestly, I think that these skills like timing really equate to being a puncher and you HAVE to take them into consideration. If you can 1 punch knock guys out at a higher level than somebody else because you have the ability to land the shots, you're a bigger puncher.

Saying who hits harder on the basis of their respective performances against Khan/Morales ain't my cup of tea.

Khan went into the Maidana fight where the talk was as soon as Maidana landed he would be KOd, meaning Khan was cautious and as focussed as he'd arguably ever been

Against Garcia he was promising to knock him out and sparring footage showed he wasn't overly concerned with being caught himself.

Both guys hit Khan flush with several huge punches. Maidana beat the fuck out of him for a few rounds but couldn't put him down. Garcia dropped him three times and probably took a few years off his life. Maidana landed 175 clean power punches on Morales, unable to budge him and as a result was dragged into a war that he arguable lost. Garcia dominated him first time around and dropped him hard and then had a KO of the year candidate for the rematch. Both men have one punch KO power, Garcia can land it better. Therefore, to me at least, he is the better puncher.
