He got dropped by Cordoba which started a lot of people talking about his chin being glass, then being rocked by Marroquin further cemented this idea in people's heads. A lot of people were thinking Donaire's power would be too much for him and shatter his glass chin, yet Rigo took some solid shots off Donaire and seemed fine apart from being dropped once. After being dropped though he bounced up, took a second to recover then went on to win the rest of the round.

Does Rigondeaux have a glass chin?

It's certainly not "strong". He just fought perfectly against Donaire. Wladmir fights perfectly against everyone these days but I'm not going to call his chin strong.

Glass might be a bit harsh but its definitely something that could lead to his downfall.
Below average then? I added a poll, you might have posted this before I did so though :good

I think he showed me against Donaire that there was nothing wrong with his chin and any weakness' with it are covered by his defence and recovery abilities. Before the fight I wasn't so sure and, while I picked him to beat Donaire, I have said for a while he will lose some upsets in his career that he would have won had his chin been better. I don't think his chin is bad at all now though. The way he reacted to punches by firing back really showed me something.

I don't know about below average. What's an "average chin" anyhow? I voted average, he gets hit clean and stunned like most normal people would, I guess.

Not a weak chin per se, but he's definitely a guy who can be wobbled and dropped by a good puncher. Cordoba is a puncher, Marroquin was huge, and Donaire was both. When he's on point though fucking nobody is getting to him IMO.

I don't really like talk of chins either, really. There's a lot of variables involved.

I'd say about average, which makes it a weakness given how good he is.

Poll looks like a dick and balls now

Well an iron chin would be a De La Hoya, Toney, Ali, Mayweather, Pacquaio.

A glass chin would be a Harrison, Price, Gamboa, Jones, Kirkland

So I guess an average chin fits somewhere in between.

It's likely average.

I wrote him off after Marroquin.

Stranger things have happened though. Everyone regards Salvador Sanchez as an iron man but I've seen him smacked about and badly hurt. Difference being is that he was a kid and Rigo' is in his physical prime.

I'll roll with what @chatty has to say. It's not terrible, not great, and he'll likely lose by stoppage at some point.

Shit happens.

True. As brilliant as he is it wouldn't surprise me a huge amount if a competitive underdog manages to just blast him out.

I think it's very hard to rate considering the amount of his fights. And you've got to think that Flyweights and Bantamweights are packing a punch in general nowadays. He does find himself out of position when he over-commits. He took shots from Donaire like a champ. His most impressive performance to me though was I think the kid was called Teon Kennedy. Yeah he was just a bum being fed to Rigo but the way he systematically beat that dude from the first bell was almost haunting. It's like a fucking art, man. I never thought Donaire would be so... he reminded me of a somewhat quicker Ricky Burns this weekend.
