Heavyweight contender "Fast" Eddie Chambers, 36-3, 18 KOs, Philadelphia, has decided to campaign as a cruiserweight. It is a move that he believes will bring him a world title belt. "The cruiserweight division is better because I'll be fighting guys my size," Chambers said. "I may have had some advantages at heavyweight, but imagine me at cruiser, fighting against someone my own size."

Chambers hasn't weighed over 210 pounds for a fight in more than three years, and feels that the move down to the 200-pound cruiserweight limit will make him more competitive and offer greater opportunity for him to become champion. "I want to be a world champion," Chambers said. "That's what you set out to do when you start boxing. That's what I want to be, and I've worked my entire boxing career, and most of my life, at that. I want to achieve it. I see that title (belt) wrapped around my waist."

Main Events is currently riding a wave of success with their nationally televised "Fight Night" boxing series on the NBC Sports Network. Chambers looks forward to more national exposure on the popular program. "I think it's a great opportunity," Chambers said. "Main Events puts on nothing but great fights. I'm just happy to be part of it. They really have confidence in my ability, and it led me to believe that these were the people for me."

Kathy Duva, Main Events CEO, said, "I don't think anyone in the cruiserweight division can beat Eddie Chambers, period. We are very happy that he has decided to work with us towards his goal of winning the cruiserweight title and I have no doubt in my mind that he will get there very soon."

Yes great news! i really like chambers and he should be fighting for a belt sooner rather than later, he could beat huck, and i'd love to see chambers afolabi down the line, but id like to see ola pick up a belt first

He'd toy with Huck IMO. He'd also come into the ring in better shape too, he never looked in great condition did he? Even against Wlad!

If you think he beat Adamek then he's got to be a certainty for a title provided his body holds up/dodgy decision.

This is not the first time I've heard this from his camp. It's not the second either. I hope it's true this time. I have confidence that he will be a top-notch cruiserweight. There's no way it's going to hurt him when he's coming in as light as guys who aren't big cruiserweights do on fight night. It's almost absurd that he's still just planning on going down in 2012 and Cunningham is just going up the same year. A few years ago that would've been a GREAT fight for Eddie to debut at CW.

With the weight he's at, it's the only sensible choice for him.
I'm almost certain most cruisers are slightly heavier as him already at fightnight, so he would finally be among his peers.
If he goes trough with it, I expect him to have a belt inside 3 fights.

I think he could clear up at Cruiser, he is a class fighter and his physical attributes will suit the division much more than at Heavyweight. I'm looking forward to seeing how this pans out, Chambers-Afolabi is definitely a fight I could get up for!

That fight would be cruiserweight's McCallum-Toney, i'd love that, but @Team_Chambers could get a belt first, one fight against a contender, win a title, fight Huck or Afolabi
