A lot of hype has been based around the future of two South African superstars in Thabiso "The Rock" Mchunu and IBO World Champion Chris "The Heat" Van Heerden.
Over the last month social platforms have been abuzz with rumours of "The Rock" fighting American Heavyweight Eddie Chambers in New York on August 3rd 2013.
"I can confirm that I have done a deal with Main Events and Mchunu will be fighting Chambers at Cruiserweight on NBC sports live come August 3 2013. Chambers went the distance with Wladimir Klitschko, but the time has come for Mchunu to show the world that he is undoubtedly the best Cruiserweight on the planet." Said Showpony CEO, Damian Michael.
Should Mchunu win he will be co promoted by Kathy Duva and Main Events moving forward. Mchunu is currently ranked number 8 by the WBC and under Showpony and Main Events his world title is surely just around the corner.
"Stable mate and IBO World Champion Chris Van Heerden has an opportunity to defend his title against Team Mayweather welterweight, Ashley Theophane (33-5-10), Either in London or New York depending on Theophane's management. We are still in negotiations but both Chris and Ashley are keen and have agreed to get it on."
"The Heat" will be joining Showpony and Team Smith on their trip to New York for a training camp, starting July 18 2013.
