Eddie Hearn confirms that Froch is ducking Cleverly

During the recent announcement of Nathan Cleverly's latest world title defence against Vyacheslav Uzelkov, the champion's promoter Frank Warren publicly stated that four offers were put forward to Bernard Hopkins, Beibut Shumenov, Carl Froch and bitter rival Tony Bellew to fight the WBO champion.

BoxingScene contacted Matchroom Boxing's head honcho Eddie Hearn to respond to the offer put forward to Froch, a current member of the A-list at 168lbs.
"We have stated time and time again that we are not interested in a fight with Nathan," stated Hearn. "We then receive an e-mail with an offer and by this time Carl is IBF super middleweight champion. They (Frank Warren Promotions) knew, we knew that we were never going to accept it. It's easy to throw offers around and it's easy to hype a fight that really has no relevance to anyone."

Hearn continued "I find the whole thing quite sad and I actually feel sorry for Nathan Cleverly."


This is the reason why Cleverly has ended up fighting Uzelkov. Froch, Shumenov, Hopkins and even Bellew are just not interested in the challenge.

@eddiehearn It was a very good offer-bet much more than Froch is getting to fight Mack &Froch's title wouldn't have been on the line either!

@frankwarren_tv wrong again and the offer was around half what I would pay Carl for the Clev fight. Anyway..good luck with the show

Seriously, how does the Frank Warren school of promoting work? We couldn't get Froch or Hopkins so we got Uzelkov? What?

It's like Alex Ferguson saying 'We couldn't get Pirlo or Xavi so we went for Carlton Palmer'

It's probably an easier fight than Mack

Eddie just tweeted and asked Warren to ring him regarding the fight, but Frank is more interested in doing things in the public domain. I guarantee that of Enzo beats McKenzie, we'll see an all welsh showdown, with Frank claiming 'we offered the fight to Froch, Hopkins and Vitali, but no1 wants to know'

Yep. I bet when he said Hopkins had agreed to the fight the only contact they'd had was Schaefer's Twitter.
