I think it looks absolutely brilliant and if it was available to buy now then I would definitely do so.

My reservation as a student with minimal disposable income is paying out for a game which isn't expected to be released until 2014.

I will be following its progress closely. Does anybody know of any similar games out there which are worth getting?

Saw a few screenshots for this a couple of months ago or so and it looked like it had amazing potential, but like a kind of makeshift FM that had been quickly adapted to a boxing game. Now it looks like a proper standalone title. Graphics look superb.

Hopefully this gets made. I can't see it though unfortunately if they need £300k in the next month or so. It has 2 backers so far...

Erm also, aren't they going to need a shit-tonne to get this licensed?
I can't imagine the finish game will use real names but hopefully will have an editor. In 30 days or so I may donate if they are close to the target but seems unlikely. I know there is Ultimate Boxing Manager or something like that out there but this looks a whole other level. There are such good quality MMA and pro wrestling versions of these types of games, we surely have to get a boxing one at some point

Sounds awesome. I'd definitely buy this if it gets made but not sure about helping to fund it like this. It's a quality idea so I'll definitely keep an eye on the progress and might help out in future. Cheers for this.

When I saw that they the developers of Ring Kings were doing a Kickstarter, I was excited. But I expected the target to be around the £5k mark - £300k is going to put people off from donating straight away because the target is way too ambitious, unfortunately.

For example, Broken Sword did a Kickstarter and raised about £500k for their project. As well as being a very popular gaming series, they offered great incentives for backing:

As also mentioned, licencing issues would stop the game from ever being released I feel. Open-source would be the way to go, but they're not going to do that when the game apparently costs so much to make!

Oh shit, another Broken Sword? Nice, will play that with the new Planescape.

Licensing doesn't bother me, really. Someone always released a mod to auto-correct everyone anyway, so I don't mind if the two best fighters in the world are Fred Merryway and Manson Pourquoi.
