Valuev held it until 2007 when he was beaten by Chagaev.

Chagaev got beaten by Wlad in 2009, but Wlad did not become Champion because Valuev had beaten Ruiz for the vacant belt 1 year earlier

David Haye beat Valuev and held the belt until he was beaten by Wlad

Wlad elevated to Super champion

Povetkin beats Chagaev for the vacant ordinary belt

I've managed to explain away Silver title fights as being eliminators for a mandatory shot, and interims as when a fighter is ducking a mando or injured.... but regulars leave me stumped.

I always get 'what's regular about being world champion?'

Povetkin I've been asked about before, given that it's more than four years since he was made mando to Wlad... all I can say is that his promoters are scared of him losing to Wlad so are keeping him back. I then get asked 'why not fight anyway?' to which I can do nothing but agree and say 'only in boxing'.

Could you imagine a football team ducking a world cup final because they'll probably lose?

I always just say about any ordinary interim silver whatever belt it just means there the no1 contender. Even though in alot of cases its not true its sure beats the 3 day long conversation it would take to explain all the abcs in boxing these days

Pov is not a world champ but the WBA like to maximise their sanctioning money so they put a cheap version of the belt up for grabs and Pov won it.

Its like when Ric Flair came to the WWE with his WCW belt. It just didn't fly over their and everyone knew Hogan was the real champ. The only difference in that is that Flair is way better than Hogan wheras Pov is nowhere near Wlad.

Explaining the regular belt is so hard because it doesn't make sense at all.
Most regular viewers already have problems with having multiple "champions" in one division, let alone if one of these organisations have 2, 3 or sometimes even 4 "champs" per division.

There's just nothing to explain other than that it's bullshit.
