Get your nominees in now for the best fight of July and I'll put a poll up on Friday with the most popular votes. Maybe best to each nominate your top 5 or something.

I'll pick:

Kell Brook vs Carson Jones
Gavin Rees vs Derry Matthews
David Haye vs Dereck Chisora
Danny Garcia vs Amir Khan
Robert Guerrero vs Selcuk Aydin

There's quite a few fights I haven't seen this month that may well be better so recommend them if they're worth checking out :good

didn't think the Brook fight was that good to be honest. First six rounds were boring as hell and then the last six were dramatic but some terrible boxing actually taking place.

Probably go for Garcia-Khan at this point but ill think on it a bit

Chatty. If we're potshotting picks then Khan-Garcia was "just" a couple of rounds of Khan outboxing Garcia before getting caught.;)

Being serious though, I don't think the quality of boxing need define how good a fight is. Exhibit A.....Foreman-Lyle.

Yeah i agree on Khan-Garcia. I just didn't get into the Brook fight so much, I was more appalled by the sloppiness of the pair than caught up in the drama. I'm sure theres a few obscure scraps out there that are better than both though. Just can't think what fights have happened this month at the min.

Definitely either Edgar Jimenez vs Julian Rivera or the aforementioned Boschiero vs Fegatilli for me. I've been slacking an awful lot of late but I recently caught up with both of these, not sure which I'd vote for but they're definitely the two best bouts I watched from July. I'd recommend them to everyone if you get the chance, particularly if you're going to vote in the poll.:yep

Oh, and while this was probably too short to be a worthy contender for FOTM, it was still a cracker(isn't it great we can type that word again?) nonetheless. Better than Haye-Chisora in my opinion, despite it only lasting into the 3rd.

Ooooh, this slipped my mind. Not as good as the other two from earlier imho, but probably my 3rd favourite fight of the month.

And yeah Pab that Burgos/Vazquez fight was quality. Great finish by Burgos.
Indeed. He seemed to switch between being rather calculated, and transitioning well from head to body while he had his man hurt to then going batshit mental and swinging for the fences. Got the job done though. I'm really warming to JLC lately(no ****). A lot of potential matches for him that'd be very interesting, too.

When was Boschiero vs Fegatilli on? Was that on tv in Europe? Never heard of those guys...
It was about a week and a half ago if I remember correctly, on Italian TV.

Both of them were kind of unknown to most people until they made a bit of splash last year. Boschiero was on the wrong end of something myself and @ScouseLeader regard as an under the radar robbery from 2011 against Takahiro Ao in Japan. It's been a long time since I watched that but as far as I can recall home fighter took about 4 rounds at most, with Ao throwing more but landing little and Devis being economical in his output yet far more effective. Might dig out the post I made on that actually because I might be remembering this all wrong.:err

Fegatilli went to England as a real underdog last year and beat Stephen Foster Jnr for the European Title(which he defended against Boschiero). In terms of rounds the bout was relatively close but he dropped Foster twice(I believe it was twice anyways) in the same round with body shots, which left him with a relatively comfy lead on the card in terms of numbers. He's more boxer than puncher but his 25% KO ratio is a bit deceptive, granted he's nothing too special when it comes to power but his body work has bothered anyone I've seen him against to at least a decent degree.

Right on @Pabby. The Bosch man deserves his rematch. I scored it 117-111 to Devis, and even then I felt I was maybe slightly generous to Aoh, who looked lethargic and genuinely befuddled by Boschiero's tight guard and sharp jab. That saga needs a conclusion IMO.

Ironically Ian John Lewis is the only judge who had it correctly :yep
