Although Heffron was the bookies favourite the (vast?) majority of online boxing fans seemed to be pretty confident that Vassell would win. Any other examples of this?

A lot of people had Hopkins over Pavlik but I don't think Hopkins-Pavlik was anywhere near as clear cut with boxing fans going against the betting favourite (Pavlik was undefeated while Hops was coming off looking poor against Calzaghe remember) as tonights fight.

Don't the odds reflect more the way the punters are betting on the fight? I was told that odds are set in order for equal money to be put on each possible outcome

So effectively if you bet on Vassell (I did also) you're outsmarting the majority

Yep, pretty much everyone I've spoke to with any sense picked Vassell to beat Heffron, I was arguing with Lance over at ESB about the fight saying Vassell will win by stoppage, then Lance decided to call me a dickhead saying I know nothing about boxing and that Heffron would knock Vassell out :lol:

It really does show how stupid the bookies are when it comes to Boxing.
