I suspect it was the sort of thing where Mick asked for the fight, Frank replied with an insulting offer with options lasting until the end of Carl's career, and they turned it down.

Yep, only Carl and Mick were calling for it. He hadn't beaten anyone of note. Even Pascal was a contender-level guy who had looked a bit shaky against Omar Pittman in his previous fight. Where was the incentive for Joe to fight Carl when there was no money in the match?

No way Carl would have accepted the fight at that stage. He knew he'd lose, it was all just a pose to make himself seem avoided.

Agree for the most part, but Froch is no more a world champion than Cleverly is.
