A good way to make tonight's fight look like Gatti-Ward by comparison.
A good way to make tonight's fight look like Gatti-Ward by comparison.Boxnation showing the Witter-Gavin fight first... :-(
As it turns out, possibly the worst advice he could have given McPhilbin!"Yer a man, be strong!"
I'm quite enjoying this. Got Murphy up 2-1 so far.Yeah should be.
Who cares if he looks ripped? I really am sick of people bringing that up. He boxes beautifully, he feels he makes that weight comfortably, he doesn't rely on size.1-0 Frankie. He never looks like he's ripped at the weight does he, skin is always loose
Again, my point - what does being ripped have to do with it? Being ripped is simply diet and stomach exercises. It's genetic too. It plays no part in your physical capabilities. If it did, Jeff Lacy would have been the greatest SMW ever. Not getting at you, honestly, I just find it's the same old criticism for Frankie - same as the "struggle" with Woodhouse where I had Gavin winning nine rounds. At british level he'll get away with it but when he moves up in class being small at the weight might count against him.
Being small at the weight can be ok if your lightening fast with great movement but I'm not sure if he is that fast
You bastard. Not the greatest night of boxing....bring on Prizefighter tomorrow. :bbb
And he's solid looking. Not scrawny or anything. I think it's just tools like Rob Palmer decided he should be 140, looked at the Olympics bust and have created a little drama to moan about. There's no way Gavin makes 140 any more. He is a big lad, deceptively tall
With you 100% - there's a little bit of confidence building at the moment, I think. Get some momentum, give him guys that let him control and show off his skills and move him up. Vassell then Theophane would be my choices.I get what your saying having a 6 pack by no way means your physically fit or means you can box but to me it looks like frankie makes welter a bit too comfortably and as @Bajingo said if he met a margarito (circa 2008) type fighter I would fear he'd struggle. I'd imagine frankie is a career welter I couldn't ever imagine him moving up to light middle ever.
He boxed well tonight but he's several levels above welborn and a fight against vassell next would be interesting.
I told him that. I said, "Vano, mate, listen - Mitchell, he just isn't very good." And Dan was all, "But DF, you gotta trust me, he's from London which automatically means he'll get a stoppage regardless of all the advantages Burns holds over him." "But," I replied, "how will he get this stoppage when you admit that Burns has all the advantages? What alchemy is this?"Mitchell-Burns is a strange one Vano.
I'm sorry. It just came out. Forgive me. And you might be right about Frankie.I'm hurt.
I honestly think Gavin's level is around European/Fringe world. I just get the feeling from watching him that he's just going through the motions, he appears to have little ambition and will just crap out sooner or later.
