Freddy Roach podria ser el proximo entrenador del Boricua Miguel Cotto para su siguiente pelea en el mes de Septiembre. Muy probablemente ante Saul Alvarez.

Freddy Roach could be the next coach of the Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto for his next fight in September. Very probably before Saul Alvarez.

Not sure what the last sentence is about there, think maybe Cotto is having a warm up before Alvarez in september. Anyway, good move or not?? Why is he no working with Pedro Diaz??

Strange choice to ditch Diaz on account of one loss? Diaz is a very good coach imo, i liked his attitude and he's just got his man Rigo a great win. Roach is a great coach as well but how much more can they get out of Miguel?

Aye i think Pedro Diaz is class. Didn't catch the Trout fight, what went wrong do you think, or was trout just the better man, Cotto on slide??
I thought when it was made it was high risk/low reward and that it would be close as Trout is a big southpaw who's tricky to pin down but Cotto's experience would help him pull away late. But in the fight Trout not only showed he was tough to really hit clean, he fought back hard, up close he was too strong to be bullied and started to push Cotto onto the back foot late on. I think Cotto would have always struggled with someone like Trout, but to me it looked like he'd lost a step as well

:-( Good lord. Both Cotto and Dawson need to stop fucking ditching their trainer every time they lose.

Not sure getting rid of Diaz was a great idea, a lot of fighters seem to do it these days when they lose a fight, when it isn't really the trainers fault. Still Freddie Roach actually suits Miguel Cotto's style I think (aggressive boxer-puncher) so it wont be a bad pairing.

Cotto really needs that tune up fight mentioned if he's going to give Alvarez a tough fight, never a good idea to enter a big bout coming off a loss, with a new trainer on the team. Cotto-Alavrez would be a really good fight if it takes place though, should be an entertaining clash with two of the most popular fighters in the world. Would sell a 40 or 50 k stadium no bother. And as much id want to see Cotto win, I can see a lot of parallels with the first De La Hoya-Chavez fight. Could be another passing of the torch affair, with the fading Latino star getting outclassed by the much younger, stronger star. Hope Cotto can pull it off though, one big performance before retirement.

Trout was too big and too young for Cotto at this stage of his career. Cotto's been beating welters at a higher weight and Foreman didn't have the style to impose his size on Miguel. So, it was Cotto against his first true LMW and his lack of size told as the fight went on. He had his moments though, but without the firepower or freshness to beat a young, tough guy like Trout.

It wasn't the drubbing some have made it out to be, but it was a clear win. I really hope Cotto isn't going for Alvarez. He deserves a lap of honour, not a beating by a guy he could have beaten in his prime - 154 or not.
