Was just thinking about the options available to Froch for his November fight and I would actually like to see him face Degale out of the possible options. The Kessler fight isn't going to happen in November which would have been the perfect fight for Carl, Oosthuizen fight seems to be dead in the water because of the destination of the fight, the other name strongly mentioned is Pavlik but he's shot to shit and wouldn't provide any test for Carl and I honestly wouldn't really be interested in the fight at all. I can't really see many other World Class fighters out there for Carl to face.

Degale is a name in the UK for one reason and another and I bet a lot of people would be interested in seeing Carl give him a beating. Degale would be able to give a bit of hype to the fight and maybe get some media attention to Carl which he desperately craves. Carl has also had troubles with slippery southpaws(Ward+Dirrell) and although Degale is miles off their level it is obviously a style that Carl finds hard to adapt to and he may take a few rounds to sort out Degale. It would also be an easy fight to make because Degale is a free agent and I bet he would ask for less money than Pavlik would so that would be another positive for Hearn.

It's not the best fight for Carl, but I would much rather see it than him V Pavlik because I just couldn't see Pavlik bringing anything apart from a name stateside.

Thoughts?

I don't think Degale would be up for it personally and a one sided beat down (which is the most likely scenario at this point in their careers) would set Degale back tenfold and he is still resurrecting himself from his last loss.

I know Froch likes to fight the best but he now finds himself in a position where a lot of boxers won't want to fight him unless the price and conditions are right. I think Sakio Bika or Anthony Dirrell are his best options now the Kessler/Oosthuizen fights look unlikely - unfortunately everyone else is tied up.

Hmm.... not sure what to make of this, there's been a bit of needle between the pair and Froch took the piss out of DeGale for refusing a bit of sparring.

If the money is right I think DeGale would probably take it.

Froch would beat him but for a short while it might be intriguing until Froch susses him, DeGale's problem is that when he's inside he often 'waits' and doesn't do anything, so he'd not be able to exploit Carl's flaws in close.

I'd like that fight. I think it probably would sell pretty well too.

I rate DeGale higher than most seem to and probably don't rate Froch as high as most do. I think it would be a hard night for Froch but he'd grind out a win

Too abrupt?;)

Thing is, if you look at it from DeGales point of view. Forget November and let Froch fight whoever, then rematch Kessler in the spring, then Ward/ another top Yank in the summer. All the while Frochs getting older and wear and tear on his body while DeGale (if he's good enough), is getting more experiece, moving into his prime and is making the fight more marketable by proving he's real world class fighting a better class of opponent.

Maybe start talking about Froch-DeGale this time next year.

After March might be a good time for DeGale.:hey
In the meantime, maybe Eddie will let him fight on the undercard of Froch's card so he can get back on Sky to give Frank a taste of what he is missing. ;)
I'm sure Chunky will say stir the pot nicely in his post fight interviews

This would be a terrible fight. DeGale would lose handily, would get stopped most likely, and would be further set back. He would need to be a real tool to even consider it.
:deal

I like Degale, always have. But James didn't even fancy sparring Froch. At their respective stages of their careers, Froch mullers him

I don't think Degale would be a logical fight for Froch right now. It's one thing saying Froch merits an easier fight after the run he's had but Degale's not even at that fringe world class level yet so the likes of Stevenson or Oosthuizen are better options.

You say Pavlik is shot so what is Kessler then? Of course, there's the added element of avenging a loss by fighting Mikkel but I really don't see much difference in the decline between the 2. If one fight is considered acceptable, so should the other IMO
