Joe Gallagher has revealed fighter John Murray may have quit his stable.
Lincboxing can exclusively report the hugely highly-rated trainer has not seen the Manchester-based lightweight since his blockbuster clash with Gavin Rees was officially announced last month.
Gallagher, who trains a string of unbeaten fighters such as Scott Quigg, Callum Johnson and Scotty Cardle, believes Murray is training somewhere but insists it certainly is not inside his gym.
"John Murray just hasn't turned up in the gym," Gallagher told Lincboxing. "From what I gather he is training, but not with me.
"I haven't seen or heard from him since the fight with Gavin Rees was announced.
"The last thing he said was he didn't want to fight Rees. He wanted the winner of Ricky Burns and Kevin Mitchell. But now he seems to have gone the other way and accepted the fight with Gavin.
"I don't know what's going on.
"Whatever happens between now and then, it will be a juicy fight between two very good fighters as far as I'm concerned."
Murray (38 wins and two losses) will fight European champion Rees (37 wins, one loss, one draw) at the Alexandra Palace, London on December 8.
