the rumour mill is going overtime on this one and word is matthyse will either get a shot straight away or will take on olusegun (sp.) for mandatory position.

does garcia have what it takes to beat matthyse?

hand speed and stamina is the same but matthyse throws in bunches and hits harder. I think here, like against holt, garcia would have to play the roll of boxer and try to counter matthyse, but seeing soto fail atr the same plan I'm not sure garcia has much chance.

either way this would be a great fight imo.

as an side, I'd love to see marquez get in the mix here now that he's got a belt.

Matthysee would destroy both of them imo - great fight though.

Think its Matthysee's time to shine now, not sure their is anyone in the division who can beat him at present.
agree.

the only man I'd give a chance is marquez but if age catches up on him, that'd be brutal.

I class Matthyse as unbeaten because I had him doing Judah by 1 point and Alexander by 3. add to that corley and soto and he's got one of the best resume's in the division so he is proven, he just hasn't been able to get a fight with a top 5 guy yet.

Yeah I think Matthysse would knock Gracia into next week. Danny will try to box and counter him,but sooner or later Matthysse will draw him in and stop him, just like he did Soto.

He certainly beat Alexander, the judah fight was close so will have to watch again, from what ive seen, he takes out most 140 fighters, Garcia included

that's exactly how I see it. Garcia has a decent chin I think, I've yet to see him hurt in a fight but Matthyse has world class power imo.

I had the Judah fight 6-6 to me it was a typical fight of two halves. Judah sticking and moving early on then slowing down and being caught late on. the kd won it for lucas imo.

I had Judah losing a good number of the rounds int he first half of fight. He threw next to nothing in some of the rounds, while being consistently outworked by Mathysse to the body. I had it 115-112 for Mathysse. No way did Judah win that fight.

Alexander fight could have gone either way. As for Garcia-Matthyse, I kinda like Swift in this fight. Lucas was tagged pretty consistently by Soto, and seemed a bit unsteady on a couple of occasions. Swift punches with more power than Soto, and his will have plenty of opportunities to counter Lucas' rushes with eye-catching shots.

Garcia, close UD in a crowd pleasing fight.

I perhaps preferred Judah's flashy shoeshine to Lucas's rugged work for the first 6 rounds, but Lucas's pressure definitely paid off as I had him sweeping 7 onwards.

I don't think Garcia will go down this route, too risky. He'll drop the WBC and let Ajose and Lucas fight for the vacant belt.

For what it's worth, I reckon Mattyhsse would beat Garcia.
I hope he doesnt, hes shown himself a really fight anyone type of guy thus far during his career, what with fighting Khan and Morales with eff all world class expereince before hand, and long may it continue.

If every division had a ballsy champion willing to take on all comers, boxing would be almost sorted :bbb

nothing to suggest Garcia would duck either fighter imo.

he fought theophane in a high risk low reward fight, took an easy option in nate campbell, but he fought morales coming off a good run of form and fought Khan as a massive underdog.

Garcia knows also that if he beats matthyse and marquez he'd go down as a lww great.

yeah people go on about his record being padded, look at the number of fights he's had and remember he's now a 3 belt champion of the division. he looks small enough to stay at 140 as well which means there should be some good fights for him.

marquez has to slip soon and it's only a matter of time until matthyse becomes a star name (like maidana did)
