Veteran IBF light-heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins has told Carl Froch that he wants him next, provided the Briton gets the better of Mikkel Kessler.

Despite being 48, Hopkins shows no signs of slowing down and he got his hands on the IBF light-heavyweight strap when meting out a first career defeat on Tavoris Cloud.

Super-middleweight Froch has been a fighter repeatedly linked with a crack at Hopkins and the American has left the door ajar for a fight, and would travel aboard as well, while also saying he would be happy to face Canadian Lucian Bute as well.

Froch faces Kessler on May 25 and a win, coupled with Hopkins taking care of mandatory challenger Karo Murat in New York on July 13, could put the pair on collision course.

"I want fight Carl Froch if he beats Kessler, and Lucian Bute if he beats Pascal. I would go [overseas] for either one," Hopkins said.

Froch would murder him, seriously. Even though Hopkins is supposedly the bigger man (I don't think he is, I reckon Froch could move up and fill his frame comfortably) I think his output would be enough to overcome B-Hops ring smarts at this stage in his career

I also think Froch beats him. Style wise, the matchup does probably suit Hopkins more but Froch isn't as limited as someone like Pavlik or Cloud. It'd be a scrappy fight and not pretty to watch but unless Carl fights like an idiot (not out of the question), then he should dominate reasonably comfortably.

Also the comparisons with Calzaghe will be ruined if he fails to beat and ancient B-Hop

Well we all know prime for prime Froch would out point Calzaghe in a bloody battle

Nah. Calzaghe would simply just throw more punches and that would allow him to beat anyone, allegedly.
Of course, that is, according to @Jay (who knows diddly about boxing)

Froch would box his head off, Calzaghe would get drawn into a war and get floored. Proper floored.

Wales have never, ever produced a World class boxer. It's not their fault. They just haven't.

Either an awful attempt at trolling here or you're an idiot. Really, it could be either one, I've no idea.
Neither. It's a fact.

Froch wins, he's not as basic as Cloud, personally i think his new "raiding" style, where he comes in throwing 5-6 punches to body and head would have success here. However, I wouldnt put it past Hopkins to still have enough left to avoid these attacks and counter, but the fight wont happen, Froch isnt going to move up. However, I've always thought if Pascal regains the light heavyweight title, that would be a good fight for Froch to have, ahead of the Ward rematch. If Pascal beats Bute then Dawson, Froch should fight Pascal as his last fight, it's winnable and being the lineal light-heavyweight champ would be his best achievement, and give him a legacy independent of Andre Ward
