Simple question.

Would he shoot up in peoples estimations for getting a legit w on his record?

Would he stay the same as many believe he has already beaten Pacquaio on numerous occasions already?

Sureley a loss in any manner wouldn't matter in the long run.

On a side-note it seems Pacquaio has the most weight on his shoulders tonight. A loss would signal the end of his time as one of the stand-out boxers of this generation, might even end his career. A legit win would spring him back to the top and somewhat disprove the asterisks surrounding the Marquez rivalry. A another controversy would leave him in no mans land.

Pressure is on Pacquiao in my opinion, as you say.

I believe that among most boxing fans we know that JMM has at least a clear win over Pacquiao and a strong argument for all 3 victories, definitely II and III. A legitimate win won't do much to change his legacy, in my opinion, but justice needs to be served.

The pressure's definitely on Pacquiao this time out. Sadly most casual fans over here still don't really know who Marquez is and that won't change even if he hammers Pacquiao tonight. But a defeat for Pacquiao and it's pretty much the end of his run as one of the best boxers at the moment.

I agree that most of the pressure is on pacquiao. Still think a win would do Marquez's legacy a good boost though.

Also im sure im not the only one who scored the first Pacquiao-Marquez fight in favour of Pac, I think he was done a bit of an inustice in not getting the deicison there, although I think he lost the last two fights in the trilogy.

I think people do forget close fights/ robberies as the years by, a "W" tonight will have a baring on how Marquez is seen in 40-50 years by most boxing fans IMHO.
yeah, thats a good point. Who knows what advancements are made by then but at present people will look back at say Bivins v Charles and see Bivins lost 4 fights to one and see Charles as a much better boxer (he was ultimately better) but they won't take into account that two of those were give and take (according to the scribes of the time) and that Bivins was shot to bits for the last two.

Obviously we have videos of the modern bouts but I'm sure there are plenty videos of rivalries that are on film that suffer from this. plus the generals don't watch fights, they just look at records and make their minds up on stats and figures.

give it a few weeks mate, i remember Pacquiao Bradley being "a final straw" for many in boxing, then 3 weeks or so later, there were a lot of close rounds that were tricky to score

Just like to say I love JMM, unconditionally, and if he gets robbed I will be disgusted and upset.
If he got robbed again I don't know if I could stomach watching any boxing for a long period of time. Robberies like their last fight genuinely disgust me.

Fully agree with this. The 3rd fight had me seething with anger. It'd take a lot to stop me watching the sport, but huge robberies, especially over fights like these, they really make you question if it's worth it.

We love this sport, but we trust in the judges to be competent and fair. When they're not, it's disgusting, especially when it stinks of an intentional robbery.
