...light fly and minimumweight were abolished?
The lower weights are, as we know, a niche subject of the sport (at least in the West). Even some hardcore fans don't acknowledge their existence (I was one of them).
However, do you think things would be different if the talent pool at flyweight was significantly strengthened by including all of those currently fighting below the 112lb weight class?
Hypothetically, the top of the division could look something like this:
1. Brian Viloria
2. Roman Gonzalez
3. Moruti Mthalane
4. Kazuto Ioka
5. Adrian Hernandez
6. Toshiyuki Igarashi
7. Hernan Marquez
8. Donnie Nietes
9. Denver Cuello
10. Nkosinathi Joyi
I think most would agree that it would be one of the strongest divisions around right now. I could even remove the aforementioned 10 from the equation, and the division would still be stronger than some. Yet, do you think the stigma that is aimed towards the lower weights would still exist, or would people be more receptive of those 'midget boxers'?
Your thoughts :good
