Theres been quite a few on here who have been discrediting Mitchell as an opponent, saying this is a step back for Burns. So I thought I'd compare Mitchell with other Burns opponents, just to see if Mitchell would crack into the upper echelons of Ricky's resume.
Burns' resume:
He started off by widely out pointing and dominating the previously unbeaten Roman Martinez (who everyone thought would knock Ricky out). Martinez, however, hadn't really beaten anyone of note, and hasn't fought since.
His other world class opponent was the man who blew Mitchell away in 3 rounds, Michael Katsidis. Kats, by this point was very war torn, and was battered to a pulp by JMM and Guerrero before dropping a decision in Scotland.
Ricky has also dominated the very good Moses
In between these, we have the unspectacular opponents in Cook, Evensen and Laryea.
So how would Mitchell fit in here? Would he crack Ricky's top 3 wins? Does he push Martinez down? Do we bring up Kats' recent form and push him down? Or do Moses, Kats and Martinez stand above Kev?
For what it's worth, I think Mitchell gets in a number 3, behind Kats and Moses
