I still love Eddie Hearn. Sure he's not perfect and at the end of the day he's just a promoter but the way he talks, his enthusiasm and openness, is still refreshing.

I like how he speaks a lot about getting his boxers on HBO and recognition in America. That alone sets him apart from the likes of Warren and Maloney IMO.

The way he speaks? He's like a salesman, he's telling you what you want to hear. He's already been exposed doing some of the things he speaks out against.
He's a promoter. Of course he's gonna be like a salesman.

But I'd rather have a salesman that seems to enjoy what he's doing rather than a cunt of a one that sues anyone with an opinion.

The double standard applied to Hearn is hilarious. He does the exact same things Warren gets lambasted for, but it's ok because Hearn is "open" and "pleasant" about it?

Neither Frank nor Eddie are particularly trustworthy. Always remember: his biggest signing was built by another promoter, and the single biggest fight he's staged was a complete joke between Haye and Harrison. There are inescapable facts.

Like I already said, he's not perfect and at the end of the day he is just another promoter but the way he does it and goes about his business in a fan-friendly way makes him seem likeable. Just my opinion and preference of course.

As for the Haye/Audley fight, I still struggle to see how he can be criticised for that too much. Sure it was complete bullshit from an outsiders point of view but in terms of him promoting Audley, he did an absolutely incredible job. He got him publicity with winning an awful prizefighter series, pretty much gifted him the European title and then got him a huge pay per view domestic heavyweight fight that was seen by millions. Not good for boxing fans at all but a great achievement as a promoter. These are inescapable facts.

But are you saying the same shit about Warren doing a good 'promoters job' with Cleverly getting a load of easy title fights with little risk and building up a fan base in his native country ?

Liking him surely doesn't get him a pass. I like my senior client, but he's still a complete cock to work for.

You also can't praise his great promotional efforts with Audley and not acknowledge that he was instrumental in creating that farce. Haye wasn't interested in the fight, but Hearn used his sway with Sky to reject all the other opponents. He was the biggest part of forcing that piece of shit on us.

And funnily enough, Frank has done that trick many times - but that doesn't get praised as great promotion, does it?

Do you see why I find the Eddie love so silly?

The difference in mood and tone between the Maloney/Coldwell interviews is like night and day. One guy looks worn down and beaten up whereas the other is fresh faced, enthusiastic and innovative. Negativity is going to bring FM down, why say I've got 2/3 years left when Price is looking at another 5/6 years AND then say he's fucked if Price leaves him! Price may as well leave now! Where's the confidence, the optimism, the drive? :-(

Most telling thing I got from those:

Frank Maloney - I had to learn how to facebook, I've had to learn twitter. I only just learnt how to use a bloody fax machine never mind email.
Dave Coldwell - I've launched a free downloadable mobile/android app that means you can view my cards on your smartphone or tablet.

Times are changing.
