To some, Floyd Mayweather put on a masterclass against Robert Guerrero last night. To others, he was negative and unexciting. Reportedly some fans left before the end and chants of "boring" were heard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Admittedly Mayweather got on his bike for the final 3 minutes and explained in his post-fight interview, "the less you get hit in the sport, the longer you last."

Hard to disagree with that and I think for the most part Floyd did what he could to engage Guerrero and make it as entertaining as a one-sided boxing lesson can be.

Do you think he could've (and perhaps) should've done more last night in living up to his self-hype as "the ultimate entertainer"?

Yep he's boring. You can admire his work but his fights are dull, one sided and predictable - he doesn't engage to try and make them anything other than that either. Hell he doesn;t even showboat.

From a personal perspective I get Floyd, he does what he has to and thats cool, I agree with him, he should only do the minimum required and conserve his health but if were being honest if everyone boxed like Mayweather does then garden bowls would be a more popular sport.

I think he probably gets more criticism than he deserves as even fighters renowned for being exciting have a couple of stinkers anyway and with floyd it generally depends on the opponent and how much they push him/how many risks theyre prepared to take to try and win the fight.

I cant believe people went to a mayweather fight then chanted boring and left early though, what were they expecting?

I love watching him, but he's not exactly a fighter I'd class as entertaining or anything. Though to be fair to him I think his last few fights have been decent enough due to him facing opponents who tried to force the issue against him.

I also love watching Andre Ward so my opinion is literally useless on the subject of what is or isn't boring. 'Tis what I've been told, anyways.

I don't like the word 'negative' here, people say 'negative' when they mean 'defensive'. There's not really anything negative to me about being in a ring throwing punches no matter what direction your feet are moving in. The only time it would be warranted is in a situation like Derrick Gainer actually not wanting to be in the ring and running away from Juan Manuel Marquez, but a fighter using a back foot game plan in an effort to win a fight isn't negative to me, it's positive because he's doing it to win.

Anyway, my nit picking must be annoying everyone now

I have to say I was bored with that fight last night, that's coming from someone who enjoys watching Bernard Hopkins, Andre Dirrell, all that. I just thought it was boring, my mates were pre-cumming watching it but it didn't do it for me. On the first question about was it a masterclass or was it boring, my answer is both.

Nah lad, Andre Ward is great to watch imo, I enjoy watching him more than Mayweather now.

To the more casual fan he's boring but anyone who's into boxing knows they're watching something special.
:deal Agree completely. I dislike him a great deal out of the ring, and not for his pre-fight antics which are obviously for the purpose of promotion. However I'm in awe of what he can do in the ring. Good opponents for anyone else in the sport atm are completely overmatched against him

I didn't really find any of it boring. I watched it mostly sober too. I'm more a guy that can't fucking stand constant clinchwork or whining and not taking chances rather than the Mayweather defensive style. I'll probably watch it with a clearer picture in a few days too.

If the fight was boring then I don't see why Floyd was to blame, both guys came in with a counterpunching gameplan and Floyd initiated all the action. Guerrero was just plodding forward not really throwing anything and getting hit repeatedly by the same punch all night, that's far more negative than what Floyd was doing imo

I love to watch Mayweather fight I'm a massive fan of his. He is fucking class the accuracy, the defense, the precision of his work, his longevity the guy is just fucking amazing and I really don't think there will be another like him for a long time. Just go back to his fights at 135 & 140 the fucking athletic ability on him was incredible.

Floyd is to blame because once again he hand picked an opponent to be no challenge whatsoever

For me there are few better sights in sport than watching Mayweather do his thing. I am amazed anyone can find him boring, unless you want him to lose. Hit and not get hit - TAO Boxing.
