Seen it on twitter and also confirmed in Liverpool echo, kind of old news as everyone had guessed this would be the case but it has now been confirmed

Making his debut March 30th on Bellew undercard and being trained at Everton Red Triangle ABC

When Eddie said they had a new signing to announce i had a strong feeling it would be Stalker, it would have been ideal if he had got a medal but his amateur background is impressive and i remember Warren saying a few times that Olympians wouldn't get such good signing bonuses because of the economic climate etc.

Ive never really rated Stalker that much, had a very good work rate, speed and punch selection in the amateurs but never really wowed me. It'l be good to see how he get's on in the pros though, he could adapt very well for all I know.

I wouldn't say he was too old, it all depends on the expectations that they have on him. Nothing wrong with winning a British/Euro title and making a few quid on the circuit and if the opportunity to move beyond that level comes along then why not?

I've never really rated him that much but he could be a good domestic/continental fighter which is still a brilliant achievement. If he hung around as an amateur he would likely lose his place before any more big events come along as the GB team will want to start building for the next Olympics immediately so good choice imo.

Warren said that because he made an absolute hash of his own Olympians in 2008, giving them crazy signing on fees and wages

Of course, never rely on him to be honest about all that and use the economy as a fall guy. In his article you can see how desperate he is to sign Joshua he mention's him all the time, Joshua seems like a grounded kid and genuinely wants to learn and not rush into super stardom.

Yeah Josh is a nice kid. I spoke to him before the Olympics and he said no matter the outcome he'll stay amateur. Seems he is turning down a short term gain for long term success. The lad has only had 45 amateur fights, he needs to mature

100% :deal he could win the Lonsdale outright and no reason he couldn't be European champ and thats a great career, add in his amateur achievements and he could leave the game happy, and if a title shot came because of that might as well have a stab at it, nothing to lose at this age

Yeah it's really good he is resisting the financial lure, must be hard but he is right gaining more amateur experience and can see his own flaws and wants to improve, he is still young and if he is destined to be a top pro heavyweight then he will, it's probably better to go into the pro's with a even more experience.
