I think it's more a case of Dempsey plays into Toney's hands than vice versa. The kryptonite for Toney has always been footwork, because he is pretty much stationary himself. Even when great fighters like McCallum used the kryptonite against him it wasnt enough to get a convincing win, simply because Toney was good enough at what he was doing in his own right. You could argue that Dempsey has a style advantage too on the basis of Toney allowing Dempsey to come in on him, but to me prime Dempsey isn't too bothered about guys going to him or away from him, because his footwork was brilliant in terms of closing the distance in a rapid manner, he cut the ring off brilliantly, and he had fine head movement. Whereas Toney's bread and butter was dudes coming into him to fight. I reckon Toney would look brilliant at times, and I want to say he would be overwhelmed and ko'd late, because Dempsey is the naturally larger man, but I am going to go against the grain and say I don't see it, because Dempsey, as celebrated as he is, was not invincible and Toney is very durable, I think he does enough scoring on the basis of a styles match up to get a decision
