True to his word Josh Taylor will defend the undisputed Super-Lightweight crown against Jack Catterall after Catterall stepped aside and allowed Taylor to unify the titles last time out.

In life men should always stick to their word and so I'm pleased to see that the unbeaten Catterall will now get his opportunity, but does he have any chance of winning this?

The champion will be the home fighter and is an overwhelming favourite, 1/16 on to be precise, the draw is at 25 or 8/1 for the upset. Anyone fancy taking the 8/1 at all? I know I don't.

Another hometown decision here tonight, very unsatisfactory indeed, as it turns out my prediction was right for this one but really it was wrong, Catterall boxed out of his skin, he was tremendous and proved me wrong, robbed blind quite frankly, I had it a shut out for the Englishman at the halfway stage, terrible result, if this fight took place somewhere neutral the belts would have changed hands this evening. Catterall must me sick to his stomach, I hope we get a word with him

Taylor says that was probably his last fight at 140 and also that he sees no need for a rematch as he won the fight. When he watches it back he'll know better, even Davison was telling him they're behind at some point in the second half

You know a decision is awful when the promoter wont even defend it. (A note to those who say EH is responsible for dodgy decisions shows that it is a wider issue). If Taylor moves up as he said was likely hopefully one of the bodies will put Catterall into a fight for their belt. BBBoC are really going to need to investigate how their judges are so regularly disagreeing with the assembled former champions who work as pundits (who uninamously had Catterall up by at least 3 rounds tonight).

ESPN had it 3-1 Taylor after 4 and then level after 6, I wonder how Sky had it. I hope the WBO order a re-score at the very least
3-1 Taylor?

That's old man arum influence there

2 commentators had it 3-1, one had 4-0

Nelson had it 115-110, which is also fair

You could argue Taylor won round 11 (or 10 I can't remember exact) if that is the case I would have had the fight 113-112, he got dominated in 6 of the rounds, so can't be a Taylor win, no chance, unlike other fights that get called robbery (when they could go either way of one fighter got all the close rounds) this fight is an actual robbery.

Dominated in 6, dropped and had a point deducted, highway robbery. Just watched the post-fight presser (ony feat Josh Taylor though) and he knows he lost, that's why he said 100 times that the right man won the fight, he also confirmed when asked that he will not be rematching Catterall and that he'll move up to 147 immediately. Davison was there too and he made reference to Mayweather being in fights that the fans thought he lost (not sure why he brought that up though since Mayweather rematched both men and won whereas Taylor won't be looking to right this wrong)

Bizzare he won't fight him again at 147, he was probably weight drained, but no excuse not to rematch him at 147

Catterall had a point off too, so that cancels each other out, but with KD, fight can't be a draw

Froch trying to justify the decision and Taylor trying to claim it wasn't his toughest fight

Boxing can be its worst enemy
Froch has been on the right end of a few dodgy decisions in his time so no surprise he's not screaming robbery, at least he's consistent but I imagine JT if asked would say that Prograis was his toughest fight in which case I'd have no real beef with that as long as he acknowledged that last night was his second toughest fight though

Off topic but ODH?

Anyway - yes terrible decision. We had five of us watching and our cards were all for Catterall, terrible decision. It was embarrassing for the sport, does nothing to persuade new fans to take it seriously, and I didn’t think much of Taylor afterwards at the press conference, seemed pretty churlish to me.

Ah yes I forgot about ODH, personally I think he won but I know opinion was split so that's a fair shout.
