Yes, whichever side we come down on it was close enough that it leaves a legit question without there ever having been a rematch. Shame we didn't get a second.

"Following an internal review of the scoring of the Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall contest by all three appointed judges, the Stewards of the Board decided to call Mr. Ian John-Lewis to appear before them to explain his returned card.
"Having considered Mr. Ian John-Lewis' explanation, the Stewards of the Board decided to downgrade Mr. John-Lewis from an A Star Class to an A Class Official.
"Whilst the Board were satisfied that Mr. John-Lewis' scorecard did not affect the overall result of the contest, the Stewards of the Board did have issue with his margin.
"Finally, the British Boxing Board of Control have contacted the WBO, WBC, IBF and WBA supporting Jack Catterall to be made mandatory challenger for each or all Championship Sanctioning Bodies."

Looks like the rematch might not happen. Talk that Taylor will fight Teofimo Lopez instead.
Disgrace if Catterall doesn't get a rematch. Everyone, including Taylor himself, knows he lost their first fight.

Agreed, looks like a horrid bottle job might be on the cards by Taylor. So much for ditching belts to clear the way for the rematch.

Numerous times he’s pulled out the fight and this time was the cherry on top, pulling out the fight and then a week later announcing negotiations with another fighter at 140 lbs. I don’t like the sound of it so it’s time to focus on me. I’ve got a family to feed and I want to go and win world titles. ... It’s time to move on from Josh. I can’t keep stalling my career and waiting on him.”
