Surely one of everyone's favourite fighters of the last decade or so. True warrior and seems like a good guy as well. Hopefully it's not too serious an injury and he can retire without taking another beating or two as may well have been the case.

Wallace is pointing out that saying "good for him" when somebody finds out they're in no fit state to fight due to the results of a brain scan, it's a stupid comment.
I clearly meant that it was the right decision. Really, really petty making anything from my comment.

Not a nice way to go out for sure, but I for one am glad he is retiring. Had a lot of hard nights and wouldn't want him to get seriously hurt. True warrior and a credit to the sport.

I've been saying since Marquez, he could've been making good money with far easier fights on a more regional fan-favourite circuit and then retire. But it must not be in his nature, only having one of those types of fights since JMM. Because, frankly, even Mensah was a hard one to sign up for after some of the wrecks he was in. The guy's been through the professional and personal ringer for the past few and I was hoping he could stay In that not-world level, decent-payday territory for a bit, with Lozada types at home, you know. I hope he makes retirement well enough. One of the great fan-friendlies of the post-Gatti men. Right up with Rios and Froch and Paul Williams and Kevin Johnson. I wish him the best.
