Eddie Hearn has told Livefight that Kell Brook will return to action on July 13 featuring on 'The Homecoming' bill in Hull topped by the professional debut of 2012 Olympic gold medallist Luke Campbell.
Brook whose last outing was in October of last year against Hector Saldivia was hoping to challenge for a world title this month against IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander, however an injury sustained to his right foot has put paid to that long overdue match-up. Matchroom stable mate Lee Purdy now challenges Alexander on May 18 in Atlantic City.
In other news, Hearn confirmed that featherweight sensation Lee Selby will return on the David Haye-Manuel Charr undercard on June 29 in Manchester.
"We're talking to Stephen Smith about that rematch or getting in a high quality international opponent, someone like Rico Ramos," said Hearn.
Hearn also told Livefight that talks are ongoing between Matchroom and the representatives of IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale about a showdown between the Australian and Darren Barker.
"Geale's looking at defending in July. We've been talking to Gary Shaw and the Australian partners as well, we've talked numbers but nothing's done yet. Darren is desperate for that fight."
