Looking back now, its hard to imagine that this was one of the biggest and most sought after fights in the world of boxing. Both men were undefeated knock-out artists fighting in the same division, both were considered guys that could dominate in the future.

It all went wrong after Pavlik went looking for the Calzaghe fight, believing he would destroy Hopkins better than Joe did. The fight could still have been big though but Abraham decided to enter the super six and Pavlik made a repeat of his Calzaghe mistake when he offered to show Williams he could do a better job on Martinez.

Since then Pavlik has had well publisized alcohol problems and looked unimpressive against a string of B-level fighters before retiring and Abraham was exposed massively as a super-middle against Froch and Ward before tonights beat down in 4 of Stieglitz.

So anther case of burnt cake but who would have won when they both looked like superstars,

I always fancied AA for that fight at 160.

I think Pavlik would win a close UD where he'd take the early rounds through activity while AA is in tortoise mode then the 2nd half of the fight would be a classic slug fest but both are durable enough for it to go the distance. Kelly's "FUCKING DOUBLE" jab would be an important factor as well.

And after Floyd stopped running Arum was a block on the Pac-Floyd fight, will he ever learn how not to overcook a fight? Maybe with Rigo-Donaire and Alvarado-Rios both being made recently he's learnt half a lesson at least two fights happening (relatively) soon after they were first called for

At their peaks when both were unbeaten at middleweight I'd pick Abraham to stop Pavlik mid to late rounds.

Well my thinking is that Abraham will start slow as ever, he basically starts at a 4 round handicap.

So can Pavlik win 3 of the last 8? I think so. Don't see Abe stopping him, also Pavlik is like 6'3" and Abe has looked horrible vs taller guys

I didn't notice it that much.

Besides Abraham has a very solid chin, and a lot of power, but he was never going to win the fight doing the turtle, he should have thrown with Ward
