7th goes to Big Bad John. 67-66 McDermott.
Confident start to the 8th from McDermott working behind the jab. He rocks Skelton back against the ropes several times. Skelton fights back half way through but McDermott back in control in the final minute. Big round for Big Bad John.

77-75 McDermott
Really good from McDermott. In total control. That should have been scored a KD as the ropes held Skelton up.

Nonetheless, 78-74 McDermott

Have I called one spot on?

"@loaded_tv: Round 9 has begun and there's some big hits being landed. Who's gonna come out on top in this insanely close match-up!?"

87-84, Skelton round for me. John has this in the bag tho.
Skelton takes the last two, but I have McDermott a 96-95 worthy winner. Pretty clear in my opinion
:think Well not really sure how/why but I have it level, even though McDermott looked better overall.

He should get the decision.

97-93, 97-94, 97-94 all in favour of John McDermott.

Breaking News: Vano predicts a fight right :yep
97-93, 97-94x2 all for the new English heavyweight champion, Big Bad John McDermott

But more importantly, I got one right! :happy

I was meant to write 96-94
Right man won anyway. Pleased for McDermott. I'm not sure how much further he can kick on from this though. A fight with Audley would be interesting but I think Audley will see himself as above that at this stage. There's still plenty of names out there though domestically I guess.

With Price vs Chisora looking likely for later this year I don't think the British title should be getting vacated any time soon but you never know they might tack on some crappy inter-continental belt for a fight like that then maybe McDermott can get himself a fight for the Lonsdale belt.

As for Skelton, well he'll have less options now of course. He still showed he's decent enough to beat anyone who's below par and can always be a tricky task for anyone. Maybe he could be the step-up opponent for someone like Gary Cornish. Or at 46 he could finally call it a day.
I think Price will vacate in search of a Thompson rematch. Chirosa could fight John for British title should that happen, and set up a European eliminator with price by the end of the year.

Other than that, there's Cornish (too early), Towers, Whyte (when his suspension is up) all there.

Really am pleased for McDermott
McDermott-Sam Sexton interests me as well. Cornish still looks miles away imo. If they can get McDermott the British I think Maloney would make McDermott-Skelton 3 as soon as he could
Doesn't Price only need one more defence to win the belt outright. I can see them taking that then dropping it - after that its anyone's. Audley's never won it - would probably be his defining moment.

What?! Olympic Gold, WBF World, European and 2 time Prizefighter Champion.

Well Olympic gold is better but its a different sport so I'm not classing it. British title is better than the rest of those. I know European is classed as higher but in general I don't think its any better.
