Great interview, would love to of seen Brad Pitts face when He saw Tyson! hahahahaa :yikes

Also funny, but true, about guys bickering over couple pounds they are fighters end of the day! And predicting fighters getting robbed by decisions is also spot on...

Love Mike, dude is quality

@Flea Man

Seen this short film?

Any footage from that era of Mike makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up!

Shame rootsoffight have actually moved away from the roots. They did a brilliant short docu on Gracie-Kimura as well.

It's the first I've even heard of RootsofFight TBH.

Cool to know you've got such a high opinion of Tyson. I honestly feel he had one of the best offensive arsenals in history, at any weight. His defense was effective, if a bit energy-wasting. When fights would actually go past the mid-rounds in his hey, it would drop off quite a bit along with his work rate. He was one of the fastest starters ever, so I've never chalked it up so much to stamina issues as the fact that you simply can't throw punches that hard and fast at that rate and weight with the intentions he had on them and keep it up over the entire distance. I still find the stereotype that Tyson "never wins a decision" in hypothetical fantasy fights slightly ludicrous though. Tyson never lost a decision -- but he won a handful. ;)

Hell, I don't think I've ever even read anything of you discussing the heavyweights. All I remember was that you said Holmes was overrated and you weren't taking questions about it. :lol: Then again, I didn't join that other forum until October 2011 and you'd compiled quite a post count by then already going back to 2008.

I'm surprised! I'm as much an aficionado as heavys as I am flys ;)

As for Mike, at his very best one of the most brilliant fighters I have ever seen on film. So yes, I rate him pretty damn high :D

As for Larry, my whole thing is it's exonerate a cliche to refer to him as 'the forgotten champ' or as underrated, so much so that he gets a bit overrated IMO. Still, I have him in my top 10 Heavys. I usually have him around no.5.

Haha, what Mike says in the interview in the OP between 7:03 - 7:18 is the reason why I am. Sans Harry Greb, that is straight Heavyweight Champion mentality. Come One, Come All. :deal What's 20 lbs? Absolutely Nothing! :yep

That bit where he said about streetfighting 'are you in shape? How much do you weigh?' had me pissing myself. Such a naturally funny guy is Mike.

Always been good for a quotable. Probably my all-time favorite:

"I could feel his muscle tissues collapse under my force. It's ludicrous these mortals even attempt to enter my realm."

What? :rofl
