@danrafaelespn: Announced today by InterBox: @InterBoxBute will return Nov. 3 vs. Denis Grachev (12-0-1, 8 KO) in Montreal. #boxing

Anyone know much about Grachev? Obviously a confidence building fight, but surely dropping down to that level won't hold him in good stead for a Froch rematch. The step up in class will be huge

Grachev isnt bad actually. I was very impressed with how he stopped Sillakh after being way behind on points. Hes a dangerous enough opponent for Bute.
Ooh it's that guy! Thats not to bad then. I'm a mong

I had never heard of him before he fought Sillakh either. The fights up at 175 for the NABF title interestingly enough. Bute's got to be the favorite, and he should win a one sided decision, but's its a more interesting opponent than I originally expected Bute to come back against. Hope he sparks Bute either way :yep

He obviously carries some power and has a solid enough beard based on the Sillakh fight, so there is some danger for Bute but he should be overcome it. Should be a big confidence boost if he can win impressively.

Boxrec has the fight listed as being at light heavy. I assume the Froch rematch is still at Supermiddle?

I've only seen Grachev against Sillakh, and from what I remember he looked very very crude. He kept coming forward and kept trying, but he lost pretty much every round till he caught Sillakh in the 8th. He doesn't look like the easiest opponent out there, as his pressure could unnerve Bute and he seems to have good power, but I expect Bute to close the show before the half-way mark. If he doesn't however, things could get very interesting.

The Sillakh fight is on youtube. Grachev down around 11:45, KO at 29:50:

So on second thought, this could be the perfect tune up for Froch. A come forward aggressor with a good chin and good power.

Yeah, I agree. I actually thought Syllakh was coasting in there for the most part. He seemed content to be pretty minimalist in his output and take rounds mostly based on being consistent with his jab and letting the occasional right go, only to then get careless when he finally tried to let his offense go for a sustained period. Not to take anything away from Grachev but I really do think that Syllakh threw that fight away.

Not sure if Bute will stop him or not, depends on how he approaches the fight. Either way I'd be shocked to see Grachev pull off the upset(again..... :yep)
