Right, as im sure most of you know by now, Alcine-Macklin will be the chief support for the Chavez-Martinez fight, and the winner of the bout will most likely target Chavez or Sergio, depending on whos victorious. How do you all see this one breaking down? I think Macklin scores a late knockout, but I could see Alcine giving him a solid fight, base don his performance against Lemieux.

I think, just like the angulo fight, alcine is going early here.

I'm one of them dicks who thinks his win over lemieux says more about how shit lemieux than how good alcine is.

Macklin is genuine top level at the MW division. I hope the winner of this fights the winner of proksa v barker.

Tend to agree, although Macklin isn't a huge puncher he's also more naturally suited to 160. Can't see any way Alcine can win.

Macklin/Barker still needs to be made asap but Mack ought to win this one as long as he's properly focussed for it. If Macklin takes his eye off the fight, Alcine could cause problems but he'll probably get stopped IMO.

Asikainen has a bit of a shit chin though losses to Gevor and Sylvester set that off. If anything I'd of expected Macklin to knock him out just doing it in 20 seconds came as a complete surprise. He should beat Alcine comfortably though. Never been a fan of his and agree with Luf that win over lemuiex was more down to him being not what he was billed up to be rather than Alcine.

Very good fight for Macklin hope he puts a show on for the US audience and get himself established over there.

I'm not sure Asikainen could be described as 'tough'. I don't think he's durable, even aside from the Macklin debacle he didn't show great toughness.

Macklin should win this one comfortably. Maybe decision, Macklin doesn't turn over on a lot of his hooks.

Macklin will simply outwork him. Think he'll approach the fight the same way he did in his career best performance against Sturm. Go to the body early and soften him up. Think it will go the distance but the ref could step in late. Can't see Macklin losing. Just hope he doesn't get complacent. He has a habit of fighting to the level of his opponent. Varon and that Georgian guy spring to mind.

Heres to hoping Mack brings his best and gets rid of Alcine within the first half of the fight. I assume that its going to be on HBO and a good performance could boost his popularity significantly among the Americans. Hes already got the makings of a fairly marketable fighter there as it is, what with his Irish roots and all that. He just needs to work on his Irish accent a bit more ;)
