According to Bob Arum, the tax rate is too high and it'll put foreign boxers off of fighting in America. Macao and Singapore are reportedly being considered for the location of a 5th Marquez fight this spring.

"He doesn't want to fight in the United States. How come? Because he'd have to give close to 40% to the government.

"I mean you know, it's getting ridiculous," Arum continued. "As far as Manny is concerned, and Marquez, they would prefer that the fight not be in the United States.

"That's what happens when you raise taxes and you say, well, let the rich pay and so forth. Boxers are in the category where they are rich. It was bad enough paying 35 and now they're paying 40%. Enough is enough.

"These big foreign fighters don't want to fight in the United States."

I don't think there will be any long term effects from this. Maybe 1 or 2 big fights will be away from Vegas as an experiment but that's still where the money is and HBO hate going abroad. Then there's the time difference. If the JMM fight does happen then it should be at Cowboys Stadium or that new stadium in Mexico if it has to be out of the US. But I think this is all just speculation tbg.

I've said for a while now that Macau is going to explode and become a rival to Vegas. Got to hand it to Arum if he goes for this, he's still ambitious and innovative at aged 80 (?)

Just hope Hatton can crack on with his plans

well said, paying shit loads of taxes is a farce, it's not like boxers created the public deficit with their blood, sweat, and tears.

I also think it's ghey how it's big news that the fight won't be in the USA, like the USA has some divine right to have all the big fights. Fuck that. Pac will draw a crowd even if he boxed in an Eskimo's house in Greenland
