Manuel Charr Drills Airich, Danny Williams in Sad Defeat
by Ruslan Chikov - 12/21/2012

Maritim Hotel, Cologne, Germany - Heavyweight Manuel Charr (22-1, 12 KOs) returned for the first time since the September TKO defeat to WBC king Vitali Klitschko, and went right through Konstantin Airich (24-9-2, 18 KOs) in less than a round. Charr jumped on Airich from the get-go and put him away with a vicious hook to the body. Charr moves himself up in the rankings by winning the vacant WBC Baltic/Mediterranean heavyweight titles.

Danny Williams (44-15, 33 KOs), who lost six out of his last seven fights, sunk to a new low by dropping an eight round unanimous decision to journeyman Werner Kreiskott (13-19-1, 8 KOs). At 39-years-old, Williams has to walk away from the ring or someone needs to step in.

It can't get much worse for Danny now. It's got to the point where he's not even a stepping stone for prospects, he's become the guy those journeyman beat to pick up an occasional win.

Its very sad that Danny's still fighting, its either got to be his love for the game or the pay check that's keeping him in it. Most likely both. I dont when he's going to hang them up, knowing how many times he's said it though, I wouldnt be surprised if he retired tomorrow and came back within 3 months.

Such a sad way to (hopefully) go out. Williams was a quality boxer back in the day.

As the article says, someone may need to step in soon.
