Welterweight superstar Juan Manuel Marquez says he has ruled out a fifth fight with Manny Pacquiao. "There's no reason for a fifth fight against Pacquiao. It was clear (who is the best), the goal we had we've already achieved. There is no longer anything pending, it's all finalized and for it to happen it would have to be the last option," Marquez said. He named Timothy Bradley and Brandon Rios as possible opponents if he decides not to retire. He also ruled out a move to super welterweight to face Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in September.

I think thats the problem - in the Nations Cup forum I can only see three threads - the welcome one, the normal nations cup thread and the results thread. I mustn't be properly included somehow as theirs no Wales one and I'm receiving no quotes/notifications etc

He can say it all he wants but it doesn't make it any less likely. What Arum wants, Arum gets. Financially it's the only fight that makes sense. He probably still gets more overall taking a small slice from that fight than being the main breadwinner in a fight against either Rios or Bradley.

It just seems like a ploy to extort a bigger cut from Arum this time round and has done ever since he started mouthing off about other opponents.

Long term it might be better for Bob Arum if it doesn't happen. That way he'll be able to match both Rios and Bradley into superfights with Pacquiao and Marquez and increase the profile and earning potential of both. If either are able to legitimately beat them, then it could make them the next superstars themselves.

I don't think Marquez will take the fight with Pacquiao regardless of the money. It's not needed for him.

But seriously, yeah I'd like a 5th fight anyway. I can see why Marquez wouldn't want it though. He won the 3rd only to get robbed then in the 4th he knocks Manny out cold and people are still saying it's not enough. If Pac laid Marquez out like that no way would JMM get another fight.

Its not as though JMM beat Pac in the manner that PBF whipped him. Pac didn't need to fight him so he should return the favour. He will make at least 5 times more than a fight with Tim or Rios for sure.
