Magee isn't doing a bad job of getting himself in amongst it in the SMW division considering the depth that is there. Getting some good paydays in what in reality is should be the twilight of his career he has been holding his own and doing fairly well at the just short of world class level. That said I expect Kessler to stop him.

Thats a very positive way to look at it!

I just thought Kessler inside 6. But you're points are all valid, who promotes Magee?

Haha well considering he was for a large part of his career stuck at British level things have taken off for him past few years. Its listed as Pat Magee so I assume his dad? Im sure there was somebody else before that. He is a free agent hence going all over the show and not being a massive ticket seller but there you go its certainly working for him.

I could see Magee winning this one definitely. Kessler's been on the slide for a long while IMO and Brian is a very solid operator. He's more of a threat than Green anyway and we saw how Kessler struggled there

Kessler keen on Froch rematch

Promotional Kalle Sauerland of Sauerland Event doesn't expect Andre Ward to come to the table for a rematch with Mikkel Kessler. On December 8th in Denmark, Kessler (45-2, 34KOs) will face Brian Magee (36-4-1, 25KOs) for the vacant WBA "regular" title. The World Boxing Association has ordered the winner to face Ward, the "super champion" at 168, in six months.

Sauerland sees a lot of possible options for the Kessler, if he wins, but not a fight with Ward. A more likely scenario is a rematch with IBF champion Carl Froch. Kessler lost an eleven round technical decision to Ward in 2009 and then won a twelve round unanimous decision over Froch in 2010.

"Against Andre Ward we had the worst referee I've ever seen in a boxing ring. Mikkel had three cuts after five rounds and there are always excuses but just look at the tape yourself, there are headbutts and elbows. We have been chasing Mr. Ward for a rematch but he chooses his own opponents. People who have been in the ring with Mikkel don't tend to want to give him a rematch. Andre Ward is very protected by his network in the States. For the winner [of the Magee fight] it could possibly lead to a Froch fight," Sauerland told Irish Boxing.

"Mikkel's fight with Calzaghe was a very tough fight and a financially very interesting fight. He was under certain pressures going in and had a bad training camp. He always wanted a rematch, maybe in Denmark, and it never happened. But let's first concentrate on December 8 and this great advert for boxing. I see this fight as being a war, with two punchers coming out and going to war."

Remember Roger Tilleman, Kalle? :-(

Can't see the Sauerlands bringing Kessler over to Nottingham for this fight. I hope they prove me wrong.

What relevance does the Calzaghe fight even have in that statement? Just a completely unrelated topic for them to bring up and get their weak excuses in again. Hope the Froch rematch happens in Notts. Froch wins a rematch and it wold be a great swansong to his career.

As for this fight, can't really see past Kessler. Magee's bloomed a bit lately but his opponents have still been carefully picked, Kessler inside the distance IMO.
