GLASGOW'S newest sports arena is set to host a sensational boxing showdown between Ricky Burns and Scott Harrison this summer.
Promoter Alex Morrison plans to stage the biggest fight in Scotland since Jim Watt was world champion more than 30 years ago.
He has booked the Emirates Arena in the east end of the city for a June clash of the Scottish titans.
If it comes off, it will mark a stunning second ring comeback for former WBO featherweight champ Harrison.
A clash with world lightweight champ Burns would hand the 35-year-old one last chance to resurrect his career.
Morrison manages both boxers and believes the bout CAN happen in front of a certain 7,000 sell-out crowd.
But first 29-year-old Coatbridge ace Burns must make a successful third defence of his WBO crown against Mexican Miguel Vazquez in London next month.
And Harrison, sentenced in his absence to a four-year jail term in Spain on assault charges and who appeared in court twice in a week last month, would have to stay out of trouble.
But Morrison said: "This is the fight I want to make happen and hopefully it will come off because I believe it would prove a huge attraction.
"I looked at several venues before deciding to provisionally book the Emirates.
"Scott's been working hard in training and I'd thought of featuring him on my show at the Gorbals Leisure Centre this weekend.
"But while he is ready to fight again, he wanted something better and they don't come any bigger than a world title bout.
"And if Ricky comes through what will be a tough fight against Vazquez and Scott continues to progress, Burns- Harrison will happen.
"This may well be the incentive Scott needs. I'm not worried about him misbehaving again now that he has something positive to look forward to.
"I am still supporting Scott. Although he has been the architect of his own downfall to an extent, I also believe he's unlucky."
Morrison also vowed to oppose any attempt to strip Harrison of his licence.
Harrison silenced his critics when he made a successful comeback after almost seven years out of the ring against Hungarian Gyorgy Mizsei at the Kelvin Hall last June.
He followed that up with a comprehensive points win over Joe Elfidh in September.
That took his record to 27-2-2, including nine world title wins.
Meanwhile, Burns was named the Scottish Ex-Boxers Association's Boxer of the Year for an unprecedented second time yesterday and received his award from former lightweight ring king Ken Buchanan.
