news is a bit sketchy as it has came from different sources but there is to be a Johnny Tapia movie entitled 'Johnny' and starring Shiloh Fernandez (Red Riding hood and Evil Dead remake).

A documentary about Tapia entitled 'TAPIA' will pre-date the film release, both are directed by Eddie Alcazar.

Here's a clip I found:

i read leonards book, that had some low points, then straight after i read heroll grahams which got quite bit more depressing, now this book is pure just depression! each book has got more darker lol just got to chapter 6 now... what a crazy life the poor dude had, so troubled... will make an incredible movie, if they can get the right person to play him, and keep true to his life story...

From what I have seen of the actor he looks pretty decent and the director is pretty good as well so I reckon it could be good. Leonards book was quality as well, never read Grahams. I think most boxing book shave that element though cause many are from poor backgrounds or have some form of trauma that brought them to box initially.
